It’s an open secret that if a site does not appear on first three pages of the search results then it’s very hard for it to receive any traffic from search engines.
The basic question which arises in the mind of every online marketer is “how to attract thousand of visitors to his site?” . Of course driving high traffic to Website is very important, but what's even more important, is designing a website in that way which makes them stays longer. No need to say you also want top ranking for your website in the listing whenever a keywords and phrases related to your business are entered into search engines. So the aim of this article is to highlight the areas you should think about and incorporate into site design for maximum search engine effectiveness.

Here are some basic guidelines to help you build a SEO friendly websites:-
1.1st thing is to figure out what you want to present. Make a concrete plan
for it.
2. Must keep your design simple, consistent and user friendly. 3. You can easily build your website with a simple design layout. 4. Your content should be simple, complete and direct to the point. But if your
design looks complicated must simplify and redesign it.

In addition to these basic guidelines these 10 important web design tips are must to follow during website optimization process: -
Domain name: It is very important from the search engine’s point of view. They prefer websites which have relevant domain names. Visitors also tend to have idea of site’s content from the domain name.
Use text: Search engines index text, and they considered the first portion of a web page relatively more important, so keep the web page tightly coded. It’s always advisable to keep all the links in text format instead of images because search engines can not read the text on the images.
Layout of site: It’s better to design your layout carefully as it also has importance in the eyes of search engine. The linking structure of your website should have to be good as it’s easy for the visitors as well the search robots to understand the details. All of your optimized pages must be linked from the home page itself.
Browser compatibility: Web pages are to be checked for browser compatibility to make search engine friendly website. This will ensure downloading of your website in different countries easier as different browsers are used at different places.
External CSS files: The sites which have lesser code in comparison to the content are mostly preferred by the search engines. That’s why it’s better to use external style sheets (better to say external CSS files) to reduce the amount of code and general complexity from the website.
Avoid frames: Search engines do not index websites that use frames, as they can not crawl frames. So it’s better to avoid them as much as possible.
Regarding naming of files: It’s better to use targeted keywords in title tags to name your files. This way those keywords will get better search engine rankings.
Try to minimize use of flash and JavaScript: Most cool websites with fancy effects are built using Flash, which is not at all search engine friendly as search engines don't index the text in the flash graphics so it will cause slow page loading .Also minimize Java script usage as search engines don't crawl JavaScript links smoothly especially in flyout or dropdown menus. So it’s better to perform with CSS to emulate a flyout menu or dropdown menu that the search engines can read and follow. Most of the search engines do not interpret JavaScript. But if you are using, then don't put the code for them into the head of the page. Instead, put them in an external file and call the JavaScript from the external file. It’s better to avoid Java Scripted automatic popup windows on your home page or on any of the page that you want the search engines to index.
Avoid tables in design: Don’t use nested tables to lay out the site. Table-less design should be used in conjunction with CSS. But if you are using tables, put a summary attribute in the main table tag - it will help the search engines figure out what the table is about.
Use HTML more often: Designing a site using softwares such as frontpage, dreamweaver etc often add unnecessary scripting codes that will make the page unnecessarily larger and make it harder to crawl. They add codes that can't be read by search engines, which affects indexing of page. You should better use them wisely by taking into consideration the html.

To design a web site that is search engine friendly is not difficult task. It’s just about being careful regarding keyword research, creating unique meaningful content and by taking care of above suggested points, your site will certainly get higher rankings .This will eventually attract many people and also motivate them to stay on for longer duration.
